The Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses, jointly sponsored by the three Greene County amateur radio clubs (Bellbrook, Fairborn and Xenia) and Greene County ARES, will be held concurrently on Sunday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM beginning September 8th and continuing through November 3rd. A Greene County VE Test Session is scheduled for Sunday, November 10th at 6:00 PM.
The entry level Technician Class Course will be held in the Training Center at the Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club Clubhouse, Room 1 Sugarcreek Elementary School, 51 South East Street in Bellbrook. No prior experience is required and there is no minimum age required to earn a Technician Class license. Morse Code no longer is required for any amateur radio license.
The General Class Course (and the Test Session) will be held in the Training Room at Beavercreek Township Fire Station 1 located at 2195 Dayton-Xenia Road just west of Orchard Lane.
The Extra Class Course will be held in the Training Room at Fairborn Fire Station 2 located at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd just south of Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd (just east of I-675).
Detailed directions to the respective sites will be provided to students upon request.
There is no charge for the courses or for the test session but all students are encouraged to have a copy of the respective ARRL License Manual. Please see note below about purchasing options for a license manual—now also available in Kindle e-book format for computers and mobile devices.
Please pass this information along to any “prospective hams” you know. Also, all current Technician Class hams are encouraged to consider upgrading to General Class and the Greene County General Class Course provides an ideal opportunity.
