Amateur Radio General License Course – DIAL – October 4, 2017

Beginning October 4, 2017, the DIAL RADIO CLUB will offer a six-week class to prepare a candidate for examination in General Class Amateur Radio operator license. Meeting in Verity Lodge, on the Middletown Campus of Miami University, this class will meet Wednesday evenings, 6-9 pm.

Class will conclude November 8 and be followed by an examination session on Wednesday, November 15.

Although there is no charge for the instructional portion of this class, students should be prepared to purchase a license training manual and supplies ($25-$30) for use in class.

DIAL Amateur Radio License Exams – Sept 27, 2017

The Dial Radio Club will offer amateur radio operator’s license examinations, beginning at 6 pm, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Verity Lodge on the campus of Miami University-Middletown, Middletown, OH.

Applicants must furnish the original and one photocopy of their current license (if any), original of any certificates of successful completion of examination (CSCE) they may hold, positive (photo) identification, and license ID number (FRN) or social security (SSN) number.

If you are applying for your first license, please go to and obtain a FRN. This web site is self explanatory and the FRN registration is free.

Walk-ins welcome – Preregistration not required.

Exams are free … No test fees will be collected.

Reminder: Ohio State Parks on the Air – September 9, 2017

Just a reminder that the Tenth Annual Ohio State Parks on the Air is coming up just in just under 2 weeks on September 9, 2017.

Note that this year the times have been moved forward 2 hours, so the contest goes from 10 am – 6 PM this year.

ARPSC is planning on being active from the Little Miami Park. Check out our OSPOTA Page for more information.

If you can’t join us, at least find a park and participate in a fun filled day of contacts.

Greene County License Courses Start September 10 at 7:00 PM

The Greene County Amateur Radio License Courses, jointly sponsored by the
three Greene County amateur radio clubs (Bellbrook, Fairborn and Xenia) and
Greene County ARES, will be held concurrently on Sunday evenings from 7:00
to 9:00 PM beginning September 10th and continuing through November 5th. A
Greene County VE Test Session is scheduled for Sunday, November 12th at 6:00

The entry level Technician Class Course will be held in the Training Center
at the Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club Clubhouse, Room 1 Sugarcreek Elementary
School, 51 South East Street in Bellbrook. No prior experience is required
and there is no minimum age required to earn a Technician Class license.
Morse Code no longer is required for any amateur radio license.

The General Class Course (and the Test Session) will be held in the Training
Room at Beavercreek Township Fire Station 1 located at 2195 Dayton-Xenia
Road just west of Orchard Lane.

The Extra Class Course will be held in the Training Room at Fairborn Fire
Station 2 located at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd just south of Dayton-Yellow
Springs Rd (just east of I-675).

Detailed directions to the respective sites will be provided to students
upon request.

There is no charge for the courses or for the test session but all students
are encouraged to have a copy of the respective ARRL License Manual. Please
see note below about purchasing options for a license manual-now also
available in Kindle e-book format for computers and mobile devices.

Please pass this information along to any “prospective hams” you know.
Also, all current Technician Class hams are encouraged to consider upgrading
to General Class and the Greene County General Class Course provides an
ideal opportunity.
